Oven Roasted Turkey Tenderloin Recipe
There is nothing I love more than knowing I have food prepared to make quick meals throughout the week. If you are planning your Food Prep for the next week, you NEED to make these! Such a simple preparation means you can bake multiple at a time for several meals. Oven baked means you don't have to stand over the stove while they cook. That makes them perfect for meal prep days.
How to Keep Turkey Tenderloin Moist when Baking
A complaint I often see about turkey breast tenderloin is that the meat can end up being very dry. There is no need to have this issue when you roast these turkey tenderloins. There are a few simple ways to make sure your turkey (or any poultry) remains moist and juicy while still being cooked through.
- Cover the meat for the first 3/4 of the cooking time. This helps seal in moisture.
- Brine the meat the night before cooking. This method is one that I have never used, but only hear great results from my friends who have done this when cooking chicken or turkey.
- Set a timer to check the internal temperature 10-15 minutes before suggested end cooking time. Sometimes ovens cook hotter than others. Other times the turkey breasts are thinner so cook faster. Always keep a meat thermometer around to check. 165°F is the suggested safe internal temperature for turkey.
- Baste with juices halfway through cook time.
Ways to Serve Roasted Turkey Breasts
Some of my favorite ways to use meal prepped poultry may surprise you. I love adding this diced turkey into an omelet for breakfast. If you are dubious about making omelets, you should read my tips for how to make the perfect omelet. If that doesn't sound like your style of food prep, you might prefer to toss this into a citrus quinoa salad or a strawberry spinach salad. You could even dice it up and substitute the turkey for the chicken in my chicken salad recipe.
How to Store Cooked Turkey Breasts
As mentioned before, this is a perfect recipe to make in bulk for weekly meal preparation. If you plan to do this, I have a few tips for how to keep the turkey fresh until you are ready to use in a recipe or for a meal.
- Do not slice or dice until you are ready to eat. This helps retain moisture in reheating.
- Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- If freezing, wrap in plastic wrap or butcher paper and store inside an airtight container or large freezer storage bag that has been labeled with the food name and date it was cooked.
- To reheat from the refrigerator, wrap in a damp paper towel on a microwave safe plate and cook in 30-second increments until heated through.
- If you plan to reheat from frozen, I prefer to allow the turkey to thaw overnight in the refrigerator then follow the directions above.
